Maine Cannabis Laws: What You Need to Know

Medical Cannabis in Maine

Maine has had a legal medical cannabis program since 1999. Here are key facts about the state’s current laws:

  • Eligibility: Any Maine resident can become a medical cannabis patient with a certification from a licensed medical provider. There is no specific list of qualifying conditions—the decision is left to the provider’s discretion.
  • Possession Limits: Patients may possess up to 2.5 ounces of usable cannabis and up to 8 pounds of harvested cannabis at home.
  • Purchasing: Patients can purchase medical cannabis from licensed caregivers (like Mainezilla Gardens) or medical dispensaries.
  • Caregivers: Patients can designate a caregiver to assist them with growing or acquiring medical cannabis. Caregivers must register with the state if serving more than one patient.
  • Home Cultivation: Patients and caregivers may grow up to 6 mature plants, 12 immature plants, and unlimited seedlings per patient.
  • Reciprocity: Maine recognizes out-of-state medical cannabis cards, allowing visiting patients to purchase from medical providers.

Maine Cannabis Facts: Adult-Use (Recreational) Cannabis in Maine

Adult-use cannabis was legalized in Maine in 2016. Here are the basics:

  • Age Requirement: Must be 21 or older to purchase, possess, or consume adult-use cannabis.
  • Possession Limits: Adults may possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and up to 5 grams of concentrate.
  • Home Grow: Adults can grow up to 6 mature plants, 12 immature plants, and unlimited seedlings per person.
  • Purchasing: Can only purchase from licensed adult-use retail stores. Adult-use and medical cannabis sales are strictly separate.
  • Public Use: Cannabis consumption is prohibited in public spaces.
  • Driving: Operating under the influence of cannabis is illegal.

Important: Mainezilla Gardens operates exclusively under the medical cannabis caregiver system. We are not licensed for adult-use (recreational) sales.

Mainezilla Minute Masterpiece

(A Poem in Praise of Purposeful Cannabis)

In the heart of Maine where the tree lines bend,
We grow our medicine, bud to end.
No noise, no fluff, no factory acts—
Just clean-grown truths and Maine Cannabis Facts.

A canopy trimmed with patient care,
Crafted indoors with filtered air.
Every cola tells its tale,
Rooted deep in Maine Cannabis Facts that never fail.

We don’t test in labs, nor bake sweet snacks,
But our flower speaks in bold, loud tracks.
From Dark Queen’s hush to Trop Cherry’s flair,
Each jar holds Maine Cannabis Facts laid bare.

No gummies. No hype. Just resin and roots.
Hash rosin rich in its golden pursuits.
We press, not guess. We grow, not guess.
That’s how Maine Cannabis Facts impress.

Pre-rolls packed—not with trim or tricks—
But buds that sparkle, dense and thick.
It’s a smoke that starts with how we act:
With honesty, heart, and Maine Cannabis Facts.

So if you’re lost in retail haze,
Scroll no further, skip the maze.
Mainezilla stands with growers’ pacts—
To always lead with Maine Cannabis Facts.

Eight times said, but always true,
From grow tent lights to morning dew.
We’re not just here to make contracts—
We’re here to live the Maine Cannabis Facts.
